SKILLS FOR CARE FUNDING FOR PRACTICE EDUCATORS

         Skills for Care has made funding available to help ensure that practice educators meet an
         initial level of competence that is broadly in line with the PQ module "enabling others".

Skills for Care and Learn to Care have enjoyed a national level relationship for some time now and Skills for Care has entered into a national agreement with Learn to Care who will disperse this funding through local authorities. This is a far simpler method than entering separate arrangements with each local authority, and also ensures optimum use of available funding.

All of the places have now been allocated using the Skills for Care formula and letters have been sent out to those who have made bids informing them of whether their bid was successful and if so, how many places they have been allocated.

The deadline for submission of your claims is MONDAY 30TH NOVEMBER.  This is so that Learn to Care can complete all the claim details and payments and submit its report to Skills for Care by 15th December.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you will be unable to use any of the bursary places that you have been allocated as we can then re-allocate the places around the regions

Keith Brown of Bournemouth University, on behalf of Learn to Care, has produced a publication which may be a useful reference document for both employers and HEIs. It  links to the proposed practice educator framework or ‘draft national standards for practice educators’, as labelled by the Social Work Task Force’s final report.
